Xbox 360 sales slowing, Windows Phone needs to succeed

Microsoft reported their third quarter earnings today. One division marred their otherwise strong performance and that was their Entertainment & Devices division, home of the Xbox and Windows Phone.

The division reported revenue of $1.62 billion, down 16 percent from one year ago. Microsoft indicated that a weak economy and a soft gaming console market caused the decline. The company leads  the video game console market with a 42 percent share, even though Xbox 360 sales were down 48 percent at 1.4 million units sold.
